Terms and Conditions

1. General

Roel Walbers and Hannelore Van Dingenen are the owners and managers of Makou. The owners may be replaced by a family member or acquaintance should circumstances require this.

These General Terms and Conditions apply to all users of Makou, located at Rua Francisco Almeida Grandela 199 - Foz do Arelho (Portugal).

These General Terms and Conditions come into effect upon entering into a rental agreement.

A copy of these General Terms and Conditions will be provided to users free of charge upon request.

Tenants must have a permanent residence and be at least 21 years of age or older.

The managers are not liable for damage, loss, or theft of users' property. In the event of disputes, all (legal) costs shall be borne by the users.

All risks related to a stay in Makou are at the users' expense. Damage to and loss of the owner's movable and immovable property must be reported by the users during their stay and compensated to the owner.

Guests must follow the instructions of the managers.

In the event of a violation of these General Terms and Conditions or inappropriate behavior, the managers may deny and/or refuse guests access to Makou without further notice or explanation of reasons, and without refund of accommodation costs.

The manager's records are decisive in the event of disagreement, unless the users can prove otherwise.

Guests of Makou must adhere to the House Rules below.

2. Reservation and Confirmation

The rental agreement can be entered into (subject to availability) by email, via the reservation form on the website (www.makou.pt), or through other booking channels.

Upon receipt of your reservation request, Makou will send a confirmation by email with a payment request. At that moment, the reservation is "on hold," and the days you have chosen are held for you. If payment is received by Makou within the specified period, the reservation is final. If payment is not received within the specified period, the option and the reservation request will lapse.

By making a reservation via our website, by email, or via a booking request, and/or by paying the deposit, the guest declares to have read and agreed to these cancellation conditions.

These General Terms and Conditions are referenced on the reservation form on the website.

3. Payment

The deposit must be paid to bank account number xxx within 7 days of the reservation request. The remaining balance must be paid no later than 3 months before arrival.

In exceptional cases and only by mutual agreement, accommodation costs may be paid in cash or via Payconic upon arrival.
